The invisible animated girl via Nilah, which, again, unsurprising even though cartoons are generally thought to be more egalitarian (ponies princesses et cetera). This trend is, I’m sure, related to the culturally enforced idea that male protagonists (i.e. boys) are more gender neutral than female protagonists. When I was a kid, I thought it was better to be a boy because the world, even/especially worlds that didn’t exist, favored boys.
I mean, Jennifer Murdley got a toad and Jeremy Thatcher GOT A FUCKING DRAGON.
